Some love them, others - we can't imagine why - hate them. We definitely belong to the sultana lover team! For us, they belong in trail mix, various mueslis and Christmas cakes. This is mainly due to their delicious sweetness and the light honey flavor.

Sultanas vs. raisins vs. currants – what is the difference?

You have probably heard all three of these terms at some point. Both sultanas and grapes belong to the raisin group. Raisin is the general term for dried grapes. There are light as well as darker dried grapes, the colour is not related to how fresh the fruit is. Most raisins are produced in the USA, Australia, Iran and Turkey: where it is nice and warm. The Sultana is the most common grape, as it has a thin skin, no seeds and tastes particularly sweet. Their size and texture also make them popular. If the raisins are dipped in a little oil before drying, you can make juicy-sweet sultanas. Currants, by the way, are made from small, black-purple grapes that usually come from Greece, often near Corinth. Hence their name.

Drying preserves the grapes and brings out their sweetness even better. To prevent them from sticking together, we have added a little sunflower oil. Our jumbo-sized raisins are naturally sweet and do not need any added sugar. Just as KoRo created them, they go straight into the 2 lb bag and are waiting to move in with you. Sultana buns, sultana rolls, a delicious yeast plait or cakes benefit from the wonderfully sweet berries and also spice up savoury dishes such as curries and couscous salads.

Exact figures on the worldwide production of the individual varieties of grapes are difficult to find, and what you see on the map is an approximation. Of course, not all of these grapes are dried, but it gives you a good overview of where grapes are cultivated. Annual production of raisins and sultanas is currently around 800,000 tons. Did you know that when the berries are dried, the water content of the berries drops to approximately 18% and the fructose content increases to about 33%?

Like raisins, not bad but not a highlight

Have somehow overlooked that they are actually like raisins. Not bad in itself, but eats no one else in the household except me. Am trying out what I can still use all the berries, except in cereal

Only to recommend - just like the service from KoRo.

Very tasty for muesli or as a snack in between. Significantly better quality and better taste than the well-known brand products.

Sweet, big and soft grapes, what's not to like?

The grapes are really huge, sweet and soft. Almost too bad for baking, they also taste very good straight from the bag into the mouth.... Best price / performance ratio by the kilo pack.

great! I am a big fan of!

so delicious, I'm not at all on raisins! large and very aromatic, very fruity floral almost like a grappa without alk :)
by soaking overnight in the cereal they are especially good, become thick and juicy and the aroma unfolds even more

Delicious

Excellent product, not only for value for money but also for the format. You can feel the naturalness of the product, tested both raw and cooked with porridge.
