There is probably no bean which is as diverse as the soya bean. No matter if pressed as Tofu, as a milk supplement, sauce or fresh or dried as a snack: the bean is super tasty. Even the colour ranges from light green to a yellowish beige. But that is not enough for us, so we introduce to you the black variation of the all rounder. In the western world, the soy bean is very popular, but only few know the black version of the bean. It is not used in many dishes and that might be because in its raw form it has a very distinguished smell. It can be a bit quenching at first but if you get over that first impression you can smell a strong peppery vanilla note. After cooking the smell settles down and is mild and nice. We roasted and salted them as well and that's how they become a slightly spicy, salty and sweet snack with a mild bitter aroma at the end. We recommend you are not only using them as a snack but get creative and put them on your salads or spice up your next Asian wok pan.
