It's the end of September. The leaves are starting to turn orange, you're wearing a thicker jacket again in the evenings and the summer romance with the sweet ice cream parlour salesman (or saleswoman) has also come to an end. And now you also have to lose your remaining lover, your delicious, fresh strawberries. We don't want to put you through that. With our dried strawberries, we help you to keep your spring-summer love close to you at any time of the year. And since you can buy them from us in 500 g packs, you always have a reliable, fruity companion by your side!

The sweetness among dried fruit

We are real world champions when it comes to dried fruit. From exotic items, such as mango slices, banana slices or watermelon chunks all the way to domestic classics such as black currants or mulberries, we really dry everything that isn't available all year round. So it was just a matter of time before we added dried strawberries to our selection, next to our freeze-dried strawberry slices. This means you can bridge the long wait — aka the gray and rainy Autumn and Winter —with our aromatic and sweet dried strawberries. The best part: no additives* make it into the bag, just pure dried strawberries.

*Strawberries naturally contain sugar

Our all-time favourite – dried strawberries

You think you know everything about strawberries? Then let us check your knowledge: The Latin name of the strawberry is Fragaria vesca which translates as "edible fragrance". Poetic, isn't it? In Germany alone, 150,000 tonnes of fruity-sweet strawberries are harvested every year. That's quite a lot, but still not enough to satisfy the Germans' cravings for the fruit, because about 3.5 kg of strawberries are eaten per year per capita in the country. KoRo is probably not counted in these statistics, because we have people who eat almost 3.5 kg of strawberries every day!

Recipes with dried strawberries

If you don't feel like snacking on your dried strawberries as a pure snack, we'll be happy to show you how to turn your sweet dried fruits into real fruity highlights. The lockdown banana bread craze hasn't left us unscathed either, but we're not in the mood for such boring normal banana bread. On our menu: chocolate strawberry banana bread! Our banana bread is a real highlight due to the fruity strawberries and our aromatic chocolate. We have to admit, they don't look as spectacular as the freeze-dried version at a first look, but remember Esmeralda gave Quasimodo a chance. Our dried berries convince through their flavour and inner values. Do you want a drink with that banana bread? Try our creamy strawberry and banana smoothie. It's fruity, sweet and extremely aromatic and goes perfectly with the chocolate drops in the banana bread.

In 2018, over 8 million tons of strawberries were harvested worldwide. 82 percent of the total production comes from the first ten growers. China has the first place with around 3 million strawberries harvested, followed closely by the USA. As strawberries must have a minimum size of 18 mm for resale, thousands of tons, especially in Germany, rot unharvested in the fields every year.

Very strawberry

I bought the dried strawberries because I happened to have some in a Special trail mix and found them so incredibly tasty. However, these are quite different. The in the mixture have rather reminded of dried apricots, the Koro, however, resemble in the consistency almost chips (without the crunchiness XD). That does the very strawberry flavor but no harm, I just expected something different.

Tasty, tasty and aromatic, but quite hard

Delicious, tasty and aromatic, but quite hard to chew, so leathery in consistency. We have only had the freeze dried ones and will buy these again when available. My little one likes them too, but you always have to be careful as they are really hard for a toddler to chew. Otherwise delicious.
