Everything at a glance Extra virgin olive oil 1 l

In the Aegean mountain groves of the island of Lesbos, our extra virgin olive oil is made from hand-picked Kolovi olives.

Mountainous terrain and cultivation at an altitude of 600 metres allow access only on foot or by donkey. Thus, the olives are harvested gently by hand and additional help from mechanical picking equipment.

The Kolovi variety, native to the island, is aromatic, fruity and has a soft texture, despite the high antioxidants and polyphenols percentage of 210-300 mg/kg oil. The complex aromas of fresh herbs, grass and green tomato, as well as the pronounced fruitiness of the olive round, off the taste experience.

The pungency, bitterness and fruitiness of our oil are harmoniously balanced, making it a perfect accompaniment to any dish. Whether as a salad dressing, to drizzle on vegetables, as a dip or for cooking and baking, our olive oil can be used everywhere and gives your dish an unmistakable touch of Greek sun.

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Harvest

The mountainous terrain and the cultivation at an altitude of 600 meters allow access to the fields only on foot or with the help of donkeys. There, the olives are carefully harvested by hand with the occasional additional help of mechanical picking devices, and collected in large nets which are laid under the trees to collect the fruits.

In the mill, the olives are sorted, washed, chopped, and finally pressed to obtain their unique and delicious juice.

Our olive oil is of extra virgin quality. This means that it is cold-pressed directly on the day of harvest. Modern centrifuges are used for this purpose, which crush the olive paste only once, and thus extract the oil.

affordable, slightly fruity olive oil

The oil has hardly any bitter substances, no sharpness, buttery tones and is only slightly grassy. I like it very much, because the oil does not kill the taste of everything when cooking or in salads. It reminds me a little of my naturally cloudy, but unfortunately increasingly expensive favorite oil from Liguria or the mild, hardly affordable olive oils from southern France. However, this Greek oil lacks the almond flavor of the oil from Liguria or Southern France.
I think the olive oil is mild enough to try an aioli with it. Whoever has already tried it once with very grassy, bitter and hot olive oil (e.g. from Spain) won't do it a second time: it's thrown out money and unfortunately also unreasonable for (my) taste buds ;).
It will be bought again as long as KoRo has the oil in its program... as long as the Greeks don't buy and press Spanish olives ;).

Unfortunately not organic - too much sharpness

Unfortunately, the taste of the olive oil has not convinced me so. I find the oil has too much sharpness and is not so pleasant in the finish. Prefer milder olive oils. I also thought that the oil is in organic quality. But that was my fault that I have not looked more closely when ordering.

Ideal for hot and cold cuisine

This olive oil has become my favorite oil and I use it for salads as well as for warm dishes. Very tasty also with baked potatoes and for homemade tapenade and pestos.
