Everything at a glance Roasted and salted chickpeas

Getting ready for your next Netflix marathon, and looking for a better snack than crisps? Look no further! Exactly for people like you, we have created our last snack: roasted chickpeas, the healthy alternative to crisps.

Tradition rivisited

In the past years, chickpeas have been everywhere, and the kitchen of KoRo was no exception. We love chickpeas in every form – curries, falafel, hummus, couscous salads... The vegan and vegetarian cuisines, in particular, have developed a unique relationship with these round and crunchy legumes; and their high protein content has made vegan athletes fall in love with them too. But chickpeas have been the star of Oriental recipes for thousands of years! A traditional snack is roasted chickpeas, called Leblebi. When we found out, we thought, we need them in our shop! So, let us introduce you to our newcomers.

All good things come in threes

If you are as huge a fan of chickpeas as us, then you should definitely try all the three different tastes we have developed for our delicious roasted legumes:

  • Roasted and salted
  • BBQ roasted
  • Roasted with salt & pepper

All of them are roasted and refined with spices and herbs afterwards. As always, we avoid adding sugar or preservatives and artificial flavours. Our simple roasted and salted chickpeas have the ingredient list already in the name! These crunchy chickpeas are not only the ultimate snack, but are also great as a topping for your salads, bowls, and soups. Give them a try!

Varieties and origins

India is one of the main producers of chickpeas; in 2017, 67% of the world harvest came from India. No wonder, since these protein-rich legumes are a staple in India. Other important growing areas are Australia, Myanmar, Ethiopia, and Turkey. The 10 largest producers bring in 92% of the world crop, and in 2017 more than 14 million tons of chickpeas were produced worldwide.

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Grown since the Stone Age

The history of chickpeas can be traced back to ten thousand years ago. Ancient findings document Neolithic cultivations in parts of today's Turkey, where these legumes were already being used as food. Only much later did the plant spread to Europe, like Greece and Italy, where they have been grown and eaten for thousands of years.

Dreamlike good but the email sending algorithm is fooling customers

After I had ordered in my first order equal times 4 KG and these were immediately gone, I am now waiting for over 7 weeks for replenishment. Sure, if you do not have it in stock, then just not, but please do not make fun of the customers with so-called email notifications, if the eh every 2 weeks are sent with a date taken out of the air, only to be postponed after 2 weeks again 2 weeks - this is annoying and you feel fooled. Today I got the 6th e-mail and each time the date is pushed back 2 weeks :( ... let it but just stay and sends ONE email when the article is available again.

Unfortunately, horrible: Dust-dry, completely over-salted, practically tasteless, but with a rancid note. Really inedible and actually a cheek.

A little salty, otherwise very tasty as a snack or k'nack salad topping.

The chickpeas land with me now daily on the salad and I must say, they are a little high light when I need something salty quickly. A little less salt I would personally but better, because the chickpeas already in itself, so very tasty taste. The price is quite good overall for the large package..even if they will not last long in my house ... ;-)
